What can I expect from my first class?

In a typical first Pilates class, you will learn
the fundamental Pilates principles of
stabilization and control. Specifically, you will
learn how to stabilize your pelvis, shoulder
girdle, ribs, and spine.

The Instructor should also take you through
the planes of movement including flexion,
extension, rotation, and side bending.

Breathing is also covered in the first class, as
Pilates breath helps with concentration and
connection to the abdominals.

Lastly, abdominal engagement is covered,
drawing attention to the deeper abdominal
muscles.

The movements will be slow and controlled
and are easy enough for the beginner
exerciser and deep enough to challenge the
fittest of athletes.
